Vivienne Westwood Goes Unisex

Following in the footsteps of fashion power houses' Gucci & Burberry, Vivienne Westwood has announced that she will now be presenting her menswear and womenswear lines under one label in the fashion weeks to come, providing another major example of the shifting ideas within the world of fashion and gender.

The traditional structure of fashion weeks around the world, which have typically separated fashion along the binary of men and women, are joining the new generation of thinking one label at a time. Through these breakaways from typically accepted behaviour we can begin to subvert mainstream understandings of the divide between men and women, turning the sparkle and glamour of the fashion week stages into an androgynous performance art that the people of the world can drape around themselves and interpret in whichever way they see fit.
